Classic auto drive over scene - made easier with Platypod

Words By: Larry Tiefenbrunn

From Ben-Hur to Smokey and the Bandit almost any movie ever made has included a scene with the vehicle coming towards the camera, driving over it, and then speeding away. This little video shows how this shot can be done quickly and safely using Platypod and almost any video camera from a true cinema camera to a DSLR or even a smart phone. The only extra piece of equipment you need is a 1/4 inch D-ring which can be purchased for a few bucks on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/FOTOBETTER-Stainless-Release-Standard-Mounting/dp/B08DXD5643/ref=sr_1_21?crid=38U7DIYAXGTNA&keywords=1%2F4+d-ring+screws&qid=1643515138&sprefix=1%2F4%22+d-ri%2Caps%2C85&sr=8-21) or via B&H photo or at any of your favorite photo stores. The most important bit of advice is to check the clearance carefully before you drive to make sure that the car does not damage your equipment.
