Long Distance Shots with Platypod

Words and images by Joe Pellicone

Recently I took the Platypod to Brooklyn Promenade. Several areas of the fence did NOT provide a flat surface, so I got creative and “hooked” the front of the Platypod onto a fence spike. It gave me just enough stability to take some long distance shots of the Statue of Liberty, the World Trade Center and the Empire State Building behind the Brooklyn Bridge. You just have to get creative when there are no flat spots to find! I used the Sony A73 with 200-600mm lens mounted on a Platypod.
