The Platypod Handle - Versatile and Lightweight Tool for Rapid Transitions

I've been testing this versatile and lightweight tool for the past few months and I'm impressed with its performance. The Platypod Handle has been my trusty
assistant, helping me capture these stunning images with ease. As we all know,
angles matter in photography, and with the Platypod Handle, you have more
creative freedom to experiment and capture the perfect shot.

When it comes to photography, the approach can make all the difference in
achieving the desired outcome. I recently had the opportunity to work on a shoot where we needed to create two distinct looks within a short amount of time. To streamline the process, I opted for simple lighting setups that could be quickly adjusted. As part of the planning process, I used Elixxier lighting simulation software to perfect the setup before the actual shoot.

Let’s take a look at some images and how they where shot.

Behind the scenes on shoot day (Look #1):

While the makeup team is getting our talent ready, I'm busy fine-tuning the lighting detail. It's all about creating that experience and making sure everything looks just right in camera. With minor tweaks and adjustment, we're one step closer to bringing our creative vision to life.

FINAL IMAGES (Look #1):

THE BREAKDOWN:
Shooting tethered straight into Capture One Software, Camera Canon R6 Mark II, with the RF 24-105mm F4 Lens.

The Setup:

  • Using three lights to achieve the final shot
  • Main light Mola 22” beauty dish with grid, light Godox Ad 600pro
  • Back light Westcott 55° with 40°grid, light Godox Ad 400pro
  • Edge light Westcott 55° with 40°grid, light with Godox Ad 200x2
  • A purple gel was added to the edge and background light.
  • The black background is a commando cloth

Behind the scenes on shoot day (Look #2):

Look #2 came together in no time at all! We simply switched out the background and removed the gels, and with a quick wardrobe change, we had a whole new look. It just goes to show that sometimes small tweaks can make all the difference.
