Mirth and Mischief with Eddie Tapp
The assignment: capture the talent and magic of Mirth and Mischief, an immersive theater experience held at the incredible Uhuburg Castle in Helen, Georgia. I’ve photographed at the castle before, so I arrived prepared—with pre-visualized shots and all the right gear, including my Platypod Extreme, Handles, Platyball Elite, and Straps.
The production was nothing short of cinematic. With a cast of 50—including performers from LA, Vegas, Orlando, and Atlanta—the show ran every Friday and Saturday throughout May. There were professional makeup artists, stylists, elaborate costumes, puppetry, catering, and even a few celebrity appearances.
To get my overhead shots of Act One during rehearsal, I rigged my Platypod setup to a rail on the upper stage (you can spot it in the yellow circle in the stage image). The rest of the acts unfolded across different parts of the castle, providing a rich tapestry of visuals. I’ve included a few highlights from those scenes as well.
This shoot was all about adapting quickly, thinking creatively, and capturing the immersive magic in real time and having Platypod preset for various shots made it possible to move through rapidly.
