Having the opportunity to travel in our 5th wheel has been a fulfilling adventure (to say the least) which keeps getting better with each new location that we visit. This couldn’t be truer for my subject in the photos below. I had heard there was a magnificent oak tree located in John’s Island, SC and knew when we visited Charleston it was a must see! Little did I know how truly “Wowed” I would be while capturing these stills of the oak tree (which has to be at least 400 years, plus).

Last October, I had the honor to teach at KelbyOne’s Portrait Photography, and it was a great opportunity for me to show the world how I use my new Platyball elite (in Gilmar Smith Red). I did a fishing-themed family session in one of my classes about Creative Family Portraiture. My subjects were dad and his three beautiful and really active girls. It was a great example of how valuable time is and why you always need a plan and a great workflow when working with kids.

360˚ photo and video is growing in popularity, both for creators and viewers, and the emergence of a market of consumer level 360˚ cameras coming from Insta360, Ricoh, and others is making this new method of photography more accessible than before. Alongside the growth of the market, the use of these cameras is becoming more interesting owing to their affordability and performance. What’s happening here is similar to what happened with drones a few years ago in that the tech existed but was slightly out of reach in terms of price and slightly under-performing because of the limited time on the market. 360 cameras are the current version of this, and it’s time to start thinking about whether 360 cameras are for you.

Platyball Preorder!
In January of 2020, we launched an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign as Platypod turned the world upside down with a revolutionary ball head, Platyball.
