01 | COMPOSITION IS THE KEY WITH RICK SAMMON

“Famed photographer Edward Weston suggested, 'Composition is the strongest way of seeing.' Renowned photographer Art Wolfe suggests, 'Using creative cropping, we can usually find several pictures in one picture.' Platypod inventor Dr. Larry T. recommends, 'Putting your camera in one spot and trying to come up with three different compositions.' I say, 'Want to get good at composition? Go back to the same place again and again, and don’t come home without a new and different photograph.'”

02 | RAIN HAYES VIDEO GOES VIRAL

Did someone say VIRAL VIDEO?! Yes, it’s true our Platypod Perspectives episode featuring Rain Hayes (Platypod Pro) and her exquisite UVIVF captures recently went viral! The results of her shoot are going to have you running to the nearest bathroom (to remove light spillage) and testing her easy to follow techniques. Rain's pro tip for you is that you can still get a similar style image with a little light spillage; however, you'll sacrifice the vibrant glow that she's captured in our feature image. The darkest you can make the room, the better off your final captures will be. You don’t want to miss this episode. Click here to learn her secrets.

03 | LANDSCAPE WITHIN WATER REFLECTIONS WITH BOB COATES

“I believe I learned of this effect from Rick Sammon. He carries a small bottle of water and makes a puddle with the camera very low to the ground to show a reflection of the scene. Since I was working on a very uneven rough surface I brought a level and looked for where I could create a small pool of water without it running away. The pool you see I am photographing in is about one by one and a half feet wide.”
