I’m a travel photographer with a deep love of the cold and the northern lights. I’ve just spent three months exploring deep within the arctic circle and visiting as many Nordic countries as I can. My mission was a success, albeit sometimes an uncomfortable success. Unlike many previous adventures I wasn’t limited with baggage space, so I was able to bring all of my gear with me. That gear haul included my Platyball Ergo, which I decided I would have to test in Finnish Lapland one evening when the temperature plummeted to -40˚.

03 | PLATYPOD FOR EXTREMELY LOW ANGLES WITH LARRY SHAPIRO
I’ve always loved toys. My most favorite have been all types of trucks and heavy equipment. I’ve been blessed to have had the opportunity to spend a portion of the past 40 years working with clients that build fire trucks.
Last summer, one of them requested to have their trucks photographed from an extremely low angle for their 2022 product calendar. I had the perfect tool in my case for the task – the Platypod. I used a small ball head to mount my camera and tethered it to my laptop.

Platyball Preorder
In January of 2020, we launched an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign as Platypod turned the world upside down with a revolutionary ball head, Platyball. Over 2000 photographers supported the project and last week we completed shipping our first tier backers. While there are still close to 1500 Kickstarter and Indiegogo backers to ship, manufacturing has dramatically increased production.
