01 | FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY WITH EDDIE TAPP AND THE PLATYBALL
“Uhuburg Castle served as the perfect location to photograph model Jillian Ann for our educational self assignment content. Moving quickly from one location set to another, I mostly used a beauty dish with my B1 ProFoto and R5 Canon with a
variety of lenses.
I was most excited to use the pre-production Platyball Elite Ballhead. It’s fast and easy to use, with the convenient locking and rotation feature that made tweaking my camera position super easy! Check out the setup shot, as well as the series of final images!”
02 | THE IMPORTANCE OF FOOD LENS CHOICE AND POSITION WITH BOB COATES
“When photographing food, lens choice can help tell your story or dilute it. Today we’ll talk about a wide-angle lens. Specifically, we’ll discuss two different situations and how it can make the environment the star, or make it secondary.
The food is definitely a strong part of the story, but the room and musical decor are highlighted. The lens is a 7.5mm f/2.0 Laowa. This has the equivalent field of view of a 15mm full frame lens. The food is not close to the lens. A little extra work was needed in post production because the chardonnay wine glass was on the edge of the frame.”
03 | A CALYPSO ORCHID WITH SUE AND NEIL SILVERMAN
“Here is another great example of the use of the Platypod where it could not be accomplished otherwise. This Calypso Orchid is only a few inches off the ground, so the feet on the Platypod helped in stabilizing the camera and lens on this slippery surface, making this image a reality! Even a tripod that gets low would be so much more difficult to work with and hardly be able to get low enough to photograph.
With it being so low to the ground, this orchid is such an incredible species! The Platypod is such a valuable tool, especially with all the spring flowers that are blooming in our region now.”
